Jakarta, 19 September 2023 – The 9th Indonesia International Geothermal Convention & Exhibition (IIGCE) 2023, held at the Jakarta Convention Center, Senayan from September 20-22, has emerged as a significant moment for PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) (IDX: PGEO) to drive the realization of clean energy transition in Indonesia.
As the largest annual event in the geothermal industry, IIGCE 2023 serves as a catalyst for PGE in its quest to become a 1 GW company. Julfi Hadi, the President Director of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk, stated, “The Indonesia International Geothermal Convention and Exhibition is of great importance to PGE as it focuses on harnessing geothermal energy.”
During the IIGCE event, Julfi emphasized that PGE would actively engage in discussions on advancing the geothermal industry. This proactive stance is pivotal in supporting the energy transition and exploring the optimization of geothermal power plants (PLTP) through co-generation technology.
“At this forum, PGE will also address progress in geothermal infrastructure development towards a 1 GW capacity and strategies for implementing co-generation technology within PGE’s areas,” Julfi explained.
IIGCE, organized by the Indonesian Geothermal Association (API) and supported by the Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), features the theme “A Call for Geothermal Resources Optimization” this year.
The event provides a platform for government officials, associations, and geothermal-related companies to discuss the potential development and best practices in geothermal management. “PGE aims to strengthen its strategic role here, especially in supporting the achievement of net-zero emissions in Indonesia,” Julfi added.
IIGCE is expected to be attended by several prominent figures, including the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. (H.C.) K.H. Ma’ruf Amin, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ir. Arifin Tasrif, the Minister of Environment and Forestry, Prof. Dr. Ir. Siti Nurbaya Bakar, M.Sc., and other key figures.
During the forum, the President Director of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk. will discuss the theme “Drive to 1 GW Capacity: PGE’s Plan to Spearhead Indonesia’s Geothermal Development.” Additionally, the Director of Operations at PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk., Ahmad Yani, will present on the topic “Brownfield Co-generation, to Generate Incremental Capacity from Brine, Low Pressure Well, and Bottoming Unit.”
